What is the MOMS Club?
The MOMS Club™ is a nationwide non-profit organization whose initials stand for "Moms Offering Moms Support." The Club is a support group for you, the stay-at-home mother of today, interested in the world around you, wanting activities for you and your children, and proud of your choice of at-home mothering. The club offers a wide variety of club sponsored activities designed to provide fun, companionship, education and support to our members and their families. The MOMS Club and our members also do service projects that help needy children and others in our community.
Who can join MOMS Club?
Any MOM in the Biloxi area...no matter your child's age! However, because almost all of our activities are held during the day on weekdays (when at-home mothers need the most support), we are most suited for stay-at-home-moms. Per our bylaws, our membership is open at any mom in our chapter’s area
Why should I join?
Most moms join MOMS Club® because they are looking for a playgroup or other activities for their children. You will find that and so much more. You will find support, friendship, resources, and fun. Some moms have met their best friends through the Club. Others have met their neighbors whom they wouldn't have otherwise met. The great thing about MOMS Club® is that you can make it what you want it to be. Participate at a level that is comfortable to you. Some moms only attend playgroup. Others attend every possible activity, while the rest fall somewhere in between.
I just joined. Now what?
Welcome! You will be added to the email distribution list and will receive the latest calendar and roster. The first thing to do is look over the calendar and decide what you want to participate in. You will be added to our secret facebook group. Please RSVP for the events you would like to attend. If you notice a way you would like to volunteer, please call or email any Executive Board member.
Can my children really come to everything with me?
Absolutely. You can bring your children to every activity with the exception of Moms Night Out (although nursing children are always welcome.) If anyone understands the need to bring children, it’s us! Being a stay-at-home mom shouldn't keep you at home. While we are a support group for moms, we welcome children! With the exception of MOMS Night Out, our activities are catered around children to make your membership more enjoyable!
How much will the MOMS Club cost me?
You do not need to spend any money besides your annual dues of $25, unless you choose to. Most events are free. Some field trips and Mom’s Nights Out may cost additional funds, but we try to keep them reasonable. In addition, you may choose to bring snacks or a potluck dish to some events, or donate supplies to a party, and the cost of those are up to you.
What do my dues pay for?
These dues help cover the cost to run our local chapter. We pay the International MOMS Club® $2 per member per year to maintain our chapter registration. In addition, dues help support the International MOMS Club®, cover our outreach costs, help cover the cost of special events and help support our service projects. Since we are a non-profit group, we can spend very little on parties, etc. and thus must rely on our membership to donate the time and supplies to make our gatherings work.
How can I get more involved?
We rely on our members for everything, so your participation is very appreciated. Call any Executive Board member and ask to help plan events. Host events! Come to the Member’s meetings and share your ideas and opinions. This is YOUR club, and you will get out of it what you put into it.
When do I need to renew and whom do I pay?
Memberships are good for one year. Your renewal is due by the end of your anniversary month. You will receive a reminder letter from the club Treasurer the month prior to your renewal. Also, upcoming renewals are listed in the current month's newsletter and your membership date is reflected in the roster. Submit your dues to our current Treasurer.
Do I Have to Host a Playgroup?
You do not have to host any events, though at some point many members have ideas they’d like to try. If you would like to host something but feel your home cannot accommodate a group or is not conveniently located, you can sign up to host a playdate at a park or other local destination.
Do I have to bring my children to participate in an event?
No. We are a support group for stay at home moms, children are welcome but aren’t always necessary. While most of our activities and events do cater to children, we also offer activity groups that cater to moms . At-home mothers of any age children are welcome. You don't have to leave the group when your children enter school either, we know you still need support as your children grow.
